GATE is an all India examination that tests the understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology.
The submission of online applications closes on September 30, receipt of printed version of online application can be obtained on October 18 and the results will be announced on March 15 2013, according to the official website.
GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs, namely IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee.
Based on the Gate scores of a student, they are provided admissions to post-graduate programmes such as M.E, M.Tech, and Ph.D.
The candidates who are pursuing the following courses are eligible to appear: B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch, MSc./M.A/M.C.A (equivalent), Int. M.E/M.Tech or D.D (after 10+2 or Diploma), Int. M.E/M.Tech (Post BSc.), and Professional Society Examinations (equivalent to B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch).
